Neighborhood Watch is a great way to get to know your neighbors, and to take an active role in the safety and security of your neighborhood! There are currently several established Neighborhood Watch groups throughout the city. Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design
The South Salt Lake Police Department utilizes concepts and strategies based on Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). The CPTED concept is that the proper design and effective use of the built environment can lead to the reduction of crime and improvement in the quality of life. The CPTED concept involves five overlapping strategies: Natural Surveillance, Territorial Reinforcement, Natural Access Control, Maintenance, and Target Hardening. These strategies can be applied to both homes and businesses, to reduce your risk of criminal activity.
